Archive for September, 2008

Its been really hectic since the beginning of our attachment at Griffith University. Fortunately my lab partner is MILAN~~ yay! And our “supervisor” is an Indian guy doing pHD so we feel quite stressed carrying out the experiments for him. The good thing is that whatever experiment that we are carrying out seems pretty relevant to the theories that we have studied in school. How lucky…BUT it kinda means we have extra work most of the time but I really shouldn’t be whining away because I’m learning so much that I need more brain juice to deal with my brain saturation. HUR HUR…

Let’s look at the recent happenings for these 2 weeks.
PhotobucketTHIS is the weird structure that me and milan spotted at the grass field infront of the sch bus stop. We agreed it reminds us of star fruits back in Sg. Apparently no one eats star fruit here.

The first media we did when we entered lab. No…its not normal agar. It’s OATMEAL agar plates!

First day in Aussie

Due to some complications is my visa, I had to fly off on 6th sept. SOLO….so scary ok, never fly so far off alone before and staying there for 3 months somemore. Fortunately I met really good people along the way! The man sitting beside me in the plane helped load my baggage into the locker while this french lady helped me take care of my baggage while I went to the rest room and this cab driver was a really nice indian chap who lent me his handphone to contact my friends who arrived earlier. We talked a lot of stuff on the way. There’s so much land and trees!

So long my friends!

After the 3 years of poly ( actually still left like 6 more months but feels like we’re not gonna see each other again), I’m feeling very emotional which is pretty rare since I’m quite cold. -_-. I would not be seeing my family / poly friends/ Chan su yin/ my irritating tuition kids for a whole 3 months.  I never did want to go for this Aussie trip because I feel that it is a waste of money but my parents insists and now the learning journey has started even before my flight has taken off.

I’ve learnt how to connect and work with strangers even before my trip ( not forgetting the difference in accents). How to manage my finances better ( blame on the multiple trips to the bank) and of course, not to take my family members for granted. For now, I just hope everything will be smooth for tomorrow’s flight. Apparently there’s some problem with the ETA and I’ll have to call and clarify. GOSH! Why does these things keep happening to me, like how my first application for the debit card was rejected and now this. With these worries ( YES IM A NATURAL WORRIET AND PARANOIA IS MY GOOD FRIEND), I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep tonight.

SHALL post pics of the aussie trip ya. Stay tuned.
